Thanks to photography, we discover cultures, places, people and stories while standing still. We would actually need to travel for decades if we wanted to discover the places we meet through images. But there is a special place that no means of transport can take us to, except photography: the past. Every day we walk along streets that have seen thousands of stories, changes and personalities that have left a legacy a legacy to remember or even completely forgotten.
This digital exhibition offers a journey into the past of Lenzburg: with a trail of 28 red red spots in the form of clocks, we discover the history of the place where we are. We discover a Lenzburg that has always been dynamic and on the move: there were two railway stations, houses reminiscent of Málaga and even Algiers, fountains, statues, streets that were relocated. Lenzburg has been built, remodelled, destroyed and renovated, but something has remained the same. Everything has a history that we want to remember in order to create a synthesis between today and yesterday and to capture a wealth that must not be lost.
Discover the history of Lenzburg through the digital exhibition in the city, which is replicated on a smaller scale in the forum hall of the Burghalde Museum. You can find the complete map at the bottom of the page.
The project was realized with the kind support of the DigiCulture Fund, the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports of the Canton of Aargau, and in collaboration for the archival images with the Burghalde Museum.
