About the Project

In Rise with the images, Juliana Gómez Quijano surrenders to the pull of images as a way of knowing. Developed during her residency at the Müllerhaus in Lenzburg, the project follows the echoes that sensory encounters leave in her: a Zopf lifted from the cold of the night, flour scattered across a kitchen table, girls leaping in a dance studio. Each image becomes a threshold — an invitation to follow.

Drawing on research, listening, and imagination, Juliana moves through the world as a reader of signs. Her methodology is one of trust: she does not plan, she responds. The work exists at the intersection of the everyday and the immense, tracing what she calls an intermittent presence — something felt but not quite seen — that suspends her between the ordinary and the vast.

Rise with the images is a record of that movement: a testimony to what happiness could be when you give yourself over.
