About the Project
What constitutes the image of family, and who holds the right to guide its narrative? The projects of Jakub Stanek and Franka Frankowska, realized independently, focus on the fluid dynamics between parent and child.
In Frankowska’s MamaMama series, the relationship with her mother becomes a space of shifting perspectives. The daughter leads, the mother follows. Repetition, subtle variation, and cyclical return destabilize hierarchies of care and authority.

In Stanek’s projects, the father guides the son, exploring masculinity through presence, responsibility, and emotional closeness. The To Do List series combines photography and objects, attempting to build a home as a metaphor for care and connection. Here, family emerges as both foundation and refuge. Happiness is not a permanent state but arises through relationships, attention, and shared experience.
