About the project

What is happiness for you? This is the question we asked ourselves and others from the beginning of this Festival’s edition. Interestingly, defining happiness tends to make people feel awkward. It feels vulnerable, almost cliché, to share an answer that is nearly always trivial. Yet, the responses that emerge are both deeply personal and profoundly universal. This collective heartbeat is the core of Snapshots of Happiness, a city-wide exhibition in local shop windows of the Festival. Resulting from an Open Call for which we received 400 images, the 40 selected photographs capture fleeting, powerful moments: smiles amidst ruins, the freedom of a dive, an unexpected kiss – essential human moments of connection.

These snapshots remind us that, although happiness is hard to catch, it remains a universal human pursuit. We have all been happy at least once and will search for it forever.
