About the project
There are countless spaces designed for entertainment where work and suffering seem to disappear. These oases promise happiness, yet reveal the emptiness of a capitalist loop in which free time becomes another form of labour spent consuming. At the centre of this system, metropolises compete to build ever more spectacular architectures of leisure.
For the Leisure of Working Insects reimagines these environments as entertainment structures for insects, proposing scenes where an ant might unwind after a day’s work. By decontextualising familiar architectures, the project uses irony to expose the absurdity of a landscape saturated with leisure and artifice.
Insects become a miniature mirror of our society: tireless workers and silent witnesses to landscapes shaped by excessive ambition.
