KARLA HIRALDO VOLEAU | CH/FR

You Can Have It All (In return for everything)

About the project

In the ongoing project You Can Have It All, Karla Hiraldo Voleau reflects on body dysmorphia and art’s therapeutic power to process trauma and reclaim agency. Drawing from personal experience, she explores self-perception and learning to accept the body as home.

Rooted in feminist practices, the project presents the body as a site of resistance, storytelling, and transformation, affirming joy as a personal and political act beyond ideals of perfection.

The project began in 2019 in Greece with a letter to her future self, confronting her fraught relationship to her body. Through staged self-portraits, dares, games, and repeated gestures, she transformed anxiety into familiarity and care. Five years later, in Verzasca and Sardegna, she revisits the work, responding to her younger self and reflecting on healing after a painful breakup. Incorporating rituals from automatic writing to foraging, she reframes witchcraft as feminist empowerment and self-discovery.
