Fotofestival Lenzburg aims to foster dialogue around photography and to give young photographers a platform of national and international relevance to showcase their work and their skills as image-makers. This fundamental value is at the core of launching a new edition of the\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cBold and Talented\u201d Programme; <\/span><\/b>a project supported by the BAT Foundation.<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The goal of the “Bold and Talented”<\/strong> Programme<\/strong> is to scout and pair four promising young curators with four emerging artists. Selection criteria for curators<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text text_direction=”default”]\n

  • A curriculum that includes relevant subjects such as photography, curatorship, scenography, or architecture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • A recommendation from a university tutor or curatorial mentor in a related field, accompanied by a brief cover letter containing an initial interpretation of the theme.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • A portfolio of completed projects, if applicable.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Availability to travel to and stay in Lenzburg during the Opening of the Festival and events from <\/span>\u201cBold and Talented\u201d Programme<\/span><\/b>. The candidate should also be available on other dates as necessary for the project.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Two introductory sessions featuring workshops, site visits, and team-building activities will take place in June and September, with accommodation and meals covered by the Festival.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • Personal tutoring from the Festival curatorial team throughout the project development process.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                • Technical support from the Festival in the planning and implementation of projects (all production costs are covered by the Festival).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  • Coverage of accommodation and food costs during visits to Lenzburg, plus a grant of 500 CHF to support personal and travel expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      \u201cWhen I first read about the theme chosen for the 2026 Lenzburg Fotofestival I was immediately captivated \u2013 what does it mean to be happy, and why forever? Do we have to pursue a constant flux of happiness, or can we endure the high and lows, the turnarounds, the detours that daily life provides us? And how does happiness look like from a queer approach? Here I have the possibility to explore different takes of queer theory regarding this, and refine my own.
                      \nAs my time at NABA allowed me to pursue my research both as an artist and as a curator, I wanted to take on the curator\u2019s role for this project and challenge myself to develop that side of my work in a tangible sense. Specifically, I wanted to test myself in curating a specific medium such as photography: how can it be a document \u2013 evidence, testament, reflection \u2013 of and about queer happiness?
                      \nI am looking forward to concretize my first experimentations as curator, most of all because I see it as a form of collaboration and co-creation of the exhibition with the artist that will be involved. The development of artistic events, exhibitions, festivals, and so on is for me an occasion of community building, creating relations and working together: a festival, and in particular this one, is a chance to locate a research in a specific environment and see how it grows there, on its own too.
